my story

I went to college with a passion for imagery. What I walked away with was how to tell a story. Your story, our story. Whether through still images or through video, that is what was instilled in me from my teachers and classmates. It was a focus on cutting through the barriers and focusing on the connections, the true human story. That is what drives me in this industry, to break through the barriers of misunderstanding and get to the truth.

Want to know more? I grew up in Chicago. Oak Park actually, which is an area on the western border of the city. It is known for Frank Lloyd Wright (and Ernest Hemingway) I gravitated towards architecture growing up, and Frank Lloyd Wrights’ thought process of incorporating buildings into the land in an organic and harmonious way. Throughout my childhood I photographed the angles, the light on the buildings of the pieces I found on Frank Lloyd Wright homes and architecture within the city. The culture, the music, the people, the food of the city was all exciting to me. I loved it, but I found myself wanting more.

What I sought was the mountains. I came to Colorado in search of hikes, camping and the natural beauty of the rockies. I studied journalism, photography and video. I camped, fished and learned to ski.

I moved. I sought the beaches of the island of Hawaii, isolated in the ocean of the pacific. I created stories for television about the people and culture of the islands. Following that I helped create, manage and maintain two magazines in the islands. One based on the up and coming surf culture, the young generation, the youth. The other, a high-end travel magazine.

I moved again, this time back to Colorado. The mountains called again. I answered. I spent 10 years honing my video and still images for the benefits of individuals and community and made my home in Vail, Colorado.   I learned, through growth, failure, mentorship and hard work while living here. I am grateful for everyone who has been involved.

I’m here, hoping to tell your story in the best way I know how, through visual imagery.
